BATCHNEST - PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: 27 October 2026
Last updated: 27 October 2026
1. INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy explains how BatchNest ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use its food recipe, batch, shelf-life and stock-management functions. BatchNest is designed for local recordkeeping by home food producers and small food businesses. This policy applies to the Android app identified above.
2. INFORMATION YOU ENTER AND STORE
The app lets you create and manage product recipes, ingredient names and quantities, ingredient lot identifiers, suppliers and cost figures, production batches, batch quantities, production and user-defined expiry dates, storage locations, packaging checklists, stock movements, selling prices, and wastage or spoilage records.
These records are stored locally in an app-private Room/SQLite database on your Android device. Onboarding status, currency display, expiry-warning preferences, and your online-photo setting are stored in local app preferences. Initial example records, if shown, are also local.
The current app does not require you to create an account or provide a name, email address, or phone number to use the core functions. We do not operate a server that automatically receives your recipe, ingredient, batch or stock records.
3. OPTIONAL ONLINE FOOD PHOTOGRAPHS
BatchNest includes optional food photographs that load over an HTTPS internet connection from images.unsplash.com. The online-photograph setting is enabled by default in the current app. You can disable it at any time under Settings > Online food photographs; the app will then use bundled local illustrations instead of requesting online photos. Previously cached image files may remain temporarily on the device under the image loader's cache behavior.
When online photographs are enabled, requests are sent to Unsplash's image delivery service and its infrastructure. That service may receive your IP address, the image URL requested, and ordinary connection or HTTP metadata. This network information is processed by that third party under its own practices and may be subject to its retention and transfer arrangements. BatchNest uses fixed developer-provided photo URLs. Your entered recipes, batch records, ingredient lists, stock movements and PDF contents are not appended to the photo URLs or sent with those image requests.

4. OTHER THIRD PARTIES AND TRACKING
The inspected version of BatchNest does not include an account/login service, cloud synchronization, Firebase Analytics, an advertising SDK, or an in-app payment service. We do not sell your locally stored business records or use them for targeted advertising. Android and the external services or apps you choose to use for exports may have their own privacy practices.
5. PDF EXPORTS AND USER-INITIATED SHARING
Batch and stock PDF reports are generated on your device. When you choose to save a report, Android's document picker lets you select a local folder or another available storage provider. If you select a cloud-storage destination, or explicitly share a report with another person or application, the selected recipient may receive the contents of that report. Such exports are initiated by you; BatchNest does not automatically upload these reports to a BatchNest server. Once a report leaves the app, the recipient's privacy practices apply.
6. DEVICE PERMISSIONS
The current app requests the Android INTERNET permission for optional remote food photographs. Core production, recipe, lot, inventory and PDF-record generation do not require an internet connection. The inspected Android manifest does not request contact, precise-location, microphone or camera permissions. Android's system document-selection and sharing interfaces may be used when you choose to save or share a PDF.
7. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Your app records remain on your device until you edit or delete them, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app, subject to linked-record integrity rules. Some records, such as stock movement history, may remain after related records are edited or removed so that local stock adjustments can be accounted for. Where deletion is restricted by linked batch or lot records, you may need to remove related records first. Clearing all app data or uninstalling BatchNest deletes its local database and preferences from the app's storage. Automatic Android app backup is disabled in the inspected version.
PDFs you have separately saved or shared are outside the app's internal database and are not automatically removed when you delete a batch, clear app data, or uninstall. You must delete those files from their saved locations or request deletion from their recipients separately. Third-party photo-service connection records are controlled by the photo provider, not by the local BatchNest database.
8. SECURITY
BatchNest stores business records within Android's app-private storage, which is subject to the Android operating system's security controls and the security of your device. We do not claim that locally stored information or user-initiated exports are risk-free. If you share your device or export reports, protect those records using appropriate device and storage safeguards. Connections for optional online photos use HTTPS.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
BatchNest is intended as a business recordkeeping tool and is not specifically designed for children. It does not offer child-directed accounts or social features.
10. FOOD SAFETY AND EXPIRY DATES
Expiry dates and storage details are entered by the user. BatchNest does not test products, establish scientifically safe shelf lives, certify regulatory compliance, or guarantee that food is safe to sell or consume. Users are responsible for following applicable food handling, labeling and safety rules.
11. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY
We may revise this policy if the app's features, service providers, permissions or data practices change. We will update the effective or last-updated date when we publish a revised version. The policy should remain accessible through the app and the app's Google Play listing.
